Poverty & Injustice Hurt, But U Can Help.

Ogoni Charities, Inc is a 501(C)(3) non-for profit, poverty relief and advocacy organization dedicated  to works with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, particularly in Ogoniland.

Mission: Ogoni Charities, Inc works with individuals, communities and groups to achieve livable and productive societies, by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Vision: To eliminate the cycle of extreme poverty and injustice.

Objectives:

To eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

To Promote human rights & gender equality.

To tackle HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.

To develop human capacity building and strengthening civil societies.

Today, many Ogoni children in Nigeria do not have equal opportunity to education because they parents cannot afford the money for basic education. Research in Ogoniland revealed that 50% of Ogoni children do not have elementary education, 70% of Ogoni children do not have secondary education, and 90% of Ogoni children do not have college education, resulting extreme poverty.

As a result of the extreme poverty, parents cannot afford to pay their children's school fees, uniform, shoes, books, etc. Those mostly affected are the ones who lost their parents during the genocidal invasion by the Nigerian military dictators.

Help us bring clean water to villages in Ogoniland.

Most people in Ogoniland obtain their drinking water from lakes and streams, and hand-dug wells. All of these sources are poor, Women and children walks up to five kilometers each day to haul water. The water is not only contaminated at its source but also from the way it is transported and stored.

Together, we will leave a legacy of better lives and better communities in Ogoniland. Our Clean Water Projects will bring relief to villages in Ogoniland who suffers needlessly from a lack of access to clean water.

Every day, hundreds of children die of water borne diseases. Whereas, as little as $6,500 can bring a new well installation at a school or community center and serve hundreds of students.
